Holdem Rules - Each player is dealt two cards which may be used toward their final hand which will consist of five of the seven cards eventually dealt. The highest ranking final hand wins.
A texas holdem poker game consists of from two to ten players. The initial two cards dealt to each player face down are known as the hole cards. A round of betting then occurs. A maximum of three raises are allowed per round.

The dealer then deals out five more cards onto the table which all players share. Three of the cards are dealt together, followed by a round of betting. Then one more card is dealt followed by a round of betting. Then the final card is dealt and a final round of betting occurs.
The five cards placed face up on the table are known as the community cards. In the game of texas holdem poker an Ace may be considered a high card or a low card as part of a straight.
If there is no house dealer then a button is kept in front of one player who deals that round. The deal then moves one player clockwise each round. The rounds of betting always begin to the left of the button position.
Once all of the cards have been dealt - two to each player and five community cards on the table - then each player considers the best five-card hand possible that can be made using either one, two, or none of the player’s hole cards and either three, four, or five of the five community cards.
The person who sits just to the left of the button is known as the “small blind” and as such that player must put in front of him or herself a bet of half of the minimum bet allowed at the particular texas holdem poker game. For example, the minimum bet may be $2, which would make the small blind $1.

The player who sits two seats to the left of the dealer is known as the “Big Blind” and must bet the minimum bet allowed. These two bets, the small blind and the big blind, are placed before any cards are dealt.
Once the first two cards have been dealt to each player then a round of betting occurs. The round of betting begins with the person who is sitting to the left of the big blind.
That person may either call, raise, or fold. A player “calls” by matching the bet of the big blind. To make a “raise” a player matches the big blind and then adds more money to his or her bet, up to the total amount of money the person has in front of them (e.g., betting all of your money is known as “all in”).
Once the first player either calls, raises, or folds, then it is the next player’s turn to do the same, moving in a counter-clockwise direction around the table.
Eventually this betting cycle will return back to the small blind player who at that point may fold, and thus lose the bet they already placed (half the minimum bet), or the small blind may match all previous bets, or raise the bet more.

Last to act is the big blind, who has the same choices of calling, raising, or folding if there have been other bets that must be matched.
Once the first round is over the person dealing places three cards in the center of the holdem poker table face up. These first three face up community cards are known as the flop.
Once the flop has been dealt then another round of betting occurs beginning in the same place with the person who is sitting just to the left of the button.
The small blind and big blind are no longer forced to bet, and a player may check if they choose not to bet and no player before them has placed a bet.
When the second round of betting had been completed another card is dealt face up in the center of the table. This card is known as the turn card.
After another round of betting the final card is dealt. This last card, placed face up in the center of the table, is known as the river card. Then a final round of betting takes place. Then players show their hands and the winner takes all the bets.
As time goes by the amount of the small blind and big blind increases.
That is how Texas Holdem poker is played, and while the rules may seem simple the strategies are complex and involve human nature as well as mathematics. A variety of factors can be taken into account during each round of texas holdem poker, and at any moment you can be eliminated from the game.
Because the size of the small blind and big blind continue to increase, it assures that before long only one will player remain, having won all of the money of every other player.
